Western Saddle Size for a larger rider?
I have a larger friend, she loves horses and I want her to go riding with me. But the problem is Idk wat size saddle to get for her.
She says she weighs around 226 pounds, and a good chunk of her weight goes to her thighs.
Dont worry i've get her set on a good sized quarter horse.

go with 17 inch seat. Also look for a trail type saddle, and avoid barrel saddles. Trail saddles tend to be more open in the seat and accommodate larger riders better. Big horn makes a excellent synthetic saddle that isn't horribly expensive and only weighs in at 15 lbs to boot, so your not adding a 50 lb leather saddle to her weight on the horse. I've had one of these saddles since 98 and at ten years it looks brand new still. there is something to be said for putting a saddle on the fence and using a hose on it when its dirty.
